Re: [IANA-RC] Review Committee

Dear Review Committee
If you are agree with this message, can we have a first step to define this meeting during the coming ICANN meeting in Copenhagen ? Maybe a doodle poll to set a date and time.
Looking forward to receiving your feedback.

Dear Review Committee Members,
First of all, on behalf of the NRO EC I want to thank you for your participation in the Review Committee.
You may have seen already the associated RC Charter documentation: https://www.nro.net/wp-content/uploads/Review-Committee-Charter_FINALclean.p...
And the full list of RC members as well: https://www.nro.net/news/iana-numbering-services-review-committee-compositio...
The NRO EC instructed me to request the RC to prepare your first meeting, and suggest to meet around/during ICANN meeting in Copenhagen (since some of you will be there). Bare in mind that the RC will meet entirely by teleconference, so those not attending ICANN 58 may still participate and those teleconferences must be open to the public who wish to listen. The NRO EC Secretariat will be happy to help to coordinate logistics.
In that first meeting you should define your Leadership Roles and any other internal procedure you think it is appropriate. We expect you to have the first Report Review by mid 2017.
Should you have any other question don't hesitate to let me know. Best Regards,
Oscar Robles NRO EC Chairman

First off, let me not confuse anyone but the details that follow... I totally agree and support moving forward as proposed.
I also have three sugestions to consider.
1. Does a time adjacent to the Copenhagen work better in terms of eliminating timing conflicts? (This is not an issue for me)
2. I think the charter is quite vague so determining operating procedures is likely going to take quite a bit of time.
I don't necessarily think the charter needs changing, but it would be good if we tightened up our collective thoughts on what role the RC should play.
I started a doc with comments. I am willI got to add you all as collaborators if you send along your gmail account.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GCV5BtB8ew2yVdEfMI6_ulW9UebFF4W8Agtx5Pv5...
3. We should have some loose idea of what we want for operating procedures prior to meeting, or we will be unlikely to conclude our meeting with procedures.
I'm guessing we will need at least 3 revisions, one kind of high level, then getting a first draft of text out, sitting down and collectively molding that into procedures we like, and then a word smithing session.

Hi German, Thanks for sending this out. I think a meeting in Copenhagen would be great. Also commencing work before Copenhagen sounds reasonable. A call to start things off on procedure looks like a good place to start.

Hi All,
Both sounds good for me... a meeting during ICANN 58 and one before that. By the way, how many RC members would attend ICANN 58 ?
I also would like to know what technology and/or app will we use for the teleconference (Webwx, Zoom, etc...) and may be I would suggest scheduling a "first informal test meeting" just for all of us to make sure everything will function properly on the first "official" conference.

All,
Feel free to make edits to the document, but lets do it in the "Suggesting" mode so we can track changes.
Also if you don't have changes to offer, but rather concerns, please highlight the text and add a comment, and we can discuss the concerns in responses to that comment.
I have already put in a whole bunch of comments regarding where I borrowed text from.
Also, feel free to share access to other members on this list
Douglas,
I reverted your changes, and then set it from "Editing" to "Suggesting" and put them back in. This way we can track the changes. Please take a look and see if I captured your changes correctly.
Thanks,

Douglas,
Thanks! I gave it a pass as well.
I added some sub headings under composition including Selection, Term, Removal.
I also put some notes in about your changes clarifying in one case that text was not being deleted or added, but simply relocated.
I also noted that supermajority is defined as "80% of eligible..." instead of "8/10 of ..." as it is in the charter. We had issues with ASO AC votes when the total number participating changed either due to vacancy, or someone recusing themselves.

Hi German, Thanks for sending this out. I think a meeting in Copenhagen would be great. Also commencing work before Copenhagen sounds reasonable. A call to start things off on procedure looks like a good place to start.

The NRO EC instructed me to request the RC to prepare your first
meeting, and suggest to meet around/during ICANN meeting in Copenhagen (since some of you will be there). Bare in mind that the RC will meet entirely by teleconference, so those not attending ICANN 58 may still participate and those teleconferences must be open to the public who wish to listen. The NRO EC Secretariat will be happy to help to coordinate logistics.
In that first meeting you should define your Leadership Roles and any

Hi All,
I am available to meet before and during Copenhagen meeting.
Despite "The Review Committee will meet entirely via teleconference" we can take advantage of the presence of some of us attending ICANN meeting to have a call during that week.

Perhaps another doodle might be useful for having a call/meeting during ICANN dates.

I think our goal should be for us to be well positioned to meet face to face at the ICANN meeting at the conclusion of which we will have agreed upon operating procedures short of some word smithing which should be completed within 30 days of our meeting.

+1
If we are comfortable selecting a chair and a vice chair, we should do that, and if not select a chair for the meeting.
Setting a meeting schedule would also be very welcomed.
