Alan,

I don't think we can answer your question yet, for three reasons:

First, we (those of us from the names community who participated in the call and this process) have not fully discussed or analyzed what we heard on the call, amongst ourselves or with our counsel.

Second, the CWG-IANA has not yet met since the call; we could not answer your question without consulting with the CWG.

Third, the call wasn't really intended to answer the question you asked.  It was intended to address outstanding questions about the structure of the Trust that might have made it structurally unacceptable (and thus irreparable contractually).  I don't think we learned anything that showed us that our concerns could not be addressed contractually.  If that was all you're asking, perhaps the answer is yes, but the real answer to your question lies in the agreements and whether we will in fact be able to address our concerns contractually.  I think we had a reasonable road-map for doing so in the Principal Terms; our job now is to carry that out in the agreements.  As such, we can't really answer your question about the IETF Trust as an acceptable home until we know that the agreements are acceptable. That is still a work in progress.

Does the names community now agree that the IETF Trust is an acceptable home for the IANA IPR, or is there still any doubt?
